Down-fire subwoofer
The great advantage of active down-fire subwoofers is that, unlike front-fire subwoofers, they can be placed almost anywhere in the room. They also work without any additional amplifier, with various filters producing even better sound quality. On a down-fire subwoofer, the speaker membrane is on the underside, transmitting the sound waves to the floor, which reflects them back again.
